Autumn Excursion to Lake Hallwil

on September 15, 2022

A beautiful and hot summer came to an end on this day. As soon as they arrived in Baden, the group stretched out their umbrellas and did so several more times that day. The mood among the 30 retired ladies and gentlemen was cheerful and lively.

On time, the driver of the travel company Twerenbold drove from Baden to Meisterschwanden. On the smallest boat of the Hallwilersee fleet "Seerose" we were served Chardonnay from the Lindenmann winery in Sengen during the lake cruise.

In the panorama dining room of the Hotel Schifflände in Birrwil we were served lunch by the friendly staff. After the hors d'oeuvres, a new member was admitted to the Pensioners' Committee, which now has five members again - three women and two men. Petra Mazzolini introduced herself briefly and described her work at ABB, Colenco, AFC and AFRY, and received a bottle of red wine as a welcome gift. As usual, the round and half-round birthdays of those present were mentioned and congratulated with applause.

On the way back to Baden, the rain clouds got darker and darker. At drop-off time, the skies poured down as fiercely as they rarely do. Under the umbrellas we said goodbye as quickly as possible and took refuge under canopies. By the next day, the clothes were dry again.

Max Humbel organised the enjoyable autumn excursion, for which he was thanked with warm words and a big round of applause.

In December 2022, there will be a change of proprietors at the Restaurant Belvédère in Baden, due to the personal new orientation of the popular restaurateurs Mrs. and Mr. Moser. On June 15, 2023, the Grillplausch will take place at the Belvédère under new management "Save the Date".

Pensioners' Barbecue

on 16 June 2022 at the Restaurant Belvédère in Baden

27 ladies and gentlemen had registered and all were present. On the shaded terrace, the summer heat was bearable and the mood was cheerful.

Susanne Richei, Head of PeKo, as usual named birthdays from age 85. A gentleman who was not present celebrated his 100th birthday in March 2022, we congratulated everyone with applause. Unfortunately, we had to accept five deaths since September 2021, we remained in thought for a moment with the former work colleagues.

The retirees' meeting remains on the third Thursday of every month at the Hotel Du Parc. New retirees are welcome.

The cooperation between the MC Foundation and the Privilège Holiday Club will continue in 2023. The conditions at the Sunstar Hotels will apply from the start of the winter season on 1 December 2022 and are available at www.stiftung-mc.ch. In April this year, the Sunstar Hotel in Zermatt was permanently closed. A new Sunstar Hotel (new building) will open in Pontresina in May 2023.

On 15 September, 2022 the autumn excursion to Lake Hallwil will take place, it will be organised by Max Humbel, the invitation will be distributed in time.

From Baden with the S12 in less than an hour and without changing trains, 16 retired ladies and gentlemen reached Winterthur, and in only 15 minutes on foot we stood in front of the Dampfzentrum. A place surrounded by old and proud buildings of Winterthur's industry.

"At the beginning of the 1970s, the history of the Steam Engine Museum began in Thun. The paddle steamer "Blüemlisalp" on Lake Thun was to be taken out of service. However, the historic ship was preserved, restored and delights young and old on her journey.

The Verein Dampfzentrum Winterthur (VDW) was founded in 2009. The committed initiators wanted to take over the collection of the Vaporama Foundation Thun. The Vaporama collection includes over 50 steam engines of various types, sizes, origins and applications. Sulzer is represented in the Vaporama collection with ten machines, including a three-cylinder compound engine from 1888 that was shown at the World Exhibition in Paris. Other machines in the collection come from SLM, Escher Wyss and the BBC. The Vaporama collection has been housed in the Winterthur Steam Centre in the old Sulzer Hall 181 on the storage yard since 2011."

On the way back to the station, we lingered in a garden restaurant. A brief thunderstorm interrupted the lively conversations, which continued on the S12. Again, we reached Baden in less than an hour.
